The longhaired Dachshund, in my opinion (I am bias of course), is the perfect all around dog. The breed is a wonderful family dog. Great with kids. Small enough to go everywhere. Big enough to give you feeling that it is not breakable. This is a hound....a hunting dog that loves to dig. Their keen sense of smell makes them wonderful for tracking rabbits and chasing squirrels.

The longhaired Dachshund has the temperament of a spaniel type dog...soft, sweet and sensitive, but not a wimp! The look of the dog is to remind one of the Irish setter, but short legged.

They are a joy to live with and the only thing better than owning one is owning two! (or more in my case)
